Lawmakers in the UK aligned to the Conservative Party today are expected to vote on a motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The vote is the culmination of tensions between Boris Johnson and lawmakers in his Conservative party since the prime minister who is also the party leader was accused of violating Covid- 19 prevention regulations .
Johnson was required to pay a fine after he was found guilty of having a birthday party on June 19 2020 while 30 people gathered in violation of the rules laid down against gatherings.
Johnson also apologized for the incident.
However, the incident has continued to haunt him and he is now in danger of being forced to step down just two years after being elected.
The vote will be held tonight.
