Ted Wilson to serve third term as President of SDA church worldwide.

Pastor Ted Wilson has been re-elected to serve another term as President of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.  Ted Wilson, 72, has been serving as the President of the General Conference of Seventh Day Adventists since 2010 when he was first elected.  Wilson will now be serving his third term which runs until 2025 which will make it a total of 15 years at the helm.

His nomination was endorsed at the 61st General Conference Session held at St Louis Missouri in the United States of America.  The nominating committee consisted of 260 delegates drawn from all regions and the General Conference with 74.9 percent of the delegates voting to have Wilson continue serving in the capacity.

Pastor Ted Wilson has a Bachelor’s degree in Religion and Business Administration from Washington State University. He has a Master of Science Degree in Public Health from Loma Linda University of Public Health and a Masters in Divinity from Andrews University and a Doctorate in religious education from New York University.

Wilson has been hailed from steering the church away from controversies emphasizing biblical basis for church beliefs and policy. He holds a holistic approach to issues and greatly supports the writings of Ellen G White.

Wilson who visited Kenya in 2011 will continue to a lead a membership of close to 22 million Adventists, 21000 pastors, 229 hospitals and 129 nursing homes. The SDA church continue to face various challenges emanating from being a rapidly growing denomination and the need to meet the spiritual demands of the new members without alienating the existing members.

However, the re-election of Ted Wilson signifies in his leadership ability to chart the mission of the church amidst a decline of Christianity in major cities. All Seventh Day Adventists worldwide have been encouraged to continue praying for Ted Wilson and his spouse Nancy Wilson.
