Wildlife Conservation Officers in Kenya are celebrating the rare occurrence of an Elephant giving birth to twins at the Samburu Game Reserve.
According to KWs' tweet , the elephant gave birth to twins yesterday with only two other similar occurrences having been reported in Kenya so far. The number of twin births recorded so far are less than 1 percent worldwide .
However, the elephants also do not live long after birth as the elephant's milk does not suffice for two young elephants. Elephants have a long gestation period of 22 months with most elephants giving birth every four years.
