The Kenya Kwanza Coalition today ( Friday) scheduled to host a women’s conference at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
In an invite sent to media houses the coalition has urged media houses to deploy an all-woman crew to cover the event.
The invite read in some part “We encourage your Media House/Online News Blog to deploy an all Women Crew as we seek to celebrate and highlight the important role played by Women in all sectors“
UDA Communications Director, Wanjohi Githae said, the decision to ask female journalists to cover the event, is part of celebrating the role women play in various fields.
The signing of the Kenya Kwanza Women Charter is set to take place at the event to be attended by the coalition’s presidential flag bearer William Ruto.
This comes days after the launch of the UDA Women’s League at a Nairobi hotel on Sunday.
During the launch of the UDA Women’s League, Ruto said his party is banking on the support of women to win the August 9 polls.
On several occasions Ruto has assured women 50% of his cabinet if he wins in the August 9, elections.
