Texas Cancer founder Dr.Catherine Nyongesa has urged the incoming Ruto’s regime to do a implement a raft of measures as a way of fighting cancer.
While speaking to the press today, Nyongesa who doubled as the most effective oncologist in the Country has said that increasing taxes on tobacco products is the best way of controlling cancer hence the best way to save lives.
“By Raising Taxes on Tobacco Products will help fight the disease.More than one in five cancer deaths are related to tobacco use, according to the World Health Organization (WHO),” she said.
Nyongesa said that by doing so tobacco product will be less affordable.
She also urged on the importance of the government encouraging early screening especially among women to help mitigate cervical cancer at its early stages.
“Through early Cervical cancer screening and HoV vaccine
Cervical cancer can be prevented by having regular screenings with Pap tests and human papillomavirus (HPV) tests to find any precancers and treat them,” she said.
She said that the cervical can also be prevented by receiving the HPV vaccine
The expert also urged on the importance of using physical Activity Through Urban Planning to make Kenyans active
“Kenyan adults are not active enough, a major risk factor for cancer. Cities can drive healthy behavior by creating efficient, safe street designs that encourage walking and biking,” she advised.
She said that by Educating the public about harmful effects of alcohol the state will reduce cancer related deaths.
” Breast cancer prevention starts with healthy habits — such as limiting alcohol and staying physically active,” she said
