Vibrant city lawyer Hillary Cheboi to replace Kipchumba Murkomen in Elgeyo Marakwet

City lawyer Hillary Cheboi has today declared his intention to replace the outgoing Senator Kipchumba Murkomen in the Elgeyo Marakwet Senatorial by-election.

This comes barely days after Murkomen, a close ally of President William Ruto was named to take over the Ministry of Roads, Transport, and public works by President William Ruto.

Just like Murkomen, Cheboi is a young high profile lawyer who has handled high-profile cases within the country and has freely represented poor victims in the city, most in Kibera and Makadara courts.

He joins politicians  Jerotich Seii and Real Estate Developer Tim Kipchumba who have also confirmed their intention to vie for the seat.

Cheboi if elected will be the youngest Senator to lead the county as a senator.

While speaking to the Star, the Senator said that he will contest for the seat on the UDA ticket and urged the electorates to elect him.

“I’m a member of a registered member of UDA party and I am ready to serve my people,” he said.

He said that he will use his skills as a lawyer to keep the county government in check and at the same time fight for the right of the people.

“My main objective is to fix the issue of resource distribution in the county, each corner of the Elgeyo Marakwet county needs to get development, we shall also make sure that the funds are well used to avoid cases of corruption,” he said.

He thanked Murkomen for the good job done and wished him well.

Cheboi is optimistic about securing the seat on election day.
